Tell me about a distinct memory you have from your research internship?

Attending and presenting at research conferences with fellow students was definitely the highlight of my experience!

What did you learn the most about surgery/medicine so far in your research internship?

What I found most helpful was being able to experience the whole research process- starting from scratch with a research question all the way to eventually writing and publishing a paper.

What did you learn the most about yourself in your research internship?

Collaborating with doctors of different specialties for projects encouraged me to think about what factors I should consider when exploring careers in different specialties ( ie. amount of patient interaction, work-life balance, years of training ect).

Why would you recommend this research internship to others who follow your footsteps?

It was a great way to learn about and gain experience in more clinical research. When I eventually entered medical school, I had a better idea of how to get started on research projects and plenty of practice writing research papers.

What are your long term career goals?

Medicine, but still unsure of specialty as of now

How did the research internship help you meet your long term career goals?

Having experience in more clinical research better prepared me for participating research during medical school.

What is the most recent TV show or series you have watched?

Chef’s Table

If you could have any meal in the world delivered to you right now, what would it be?

I have not yet found a good sushi place in Phoenix so it would definitely be that!
