How did you find out about the research internship?

Mutual connection that introduced me to Dr. Nasseri

Why did you seek this research internship?

To gain experience related to clinical research and patient-physician relationships.

Tell me about a distinct memory you have from your research internship.

Here, I recall how one of the physicians comforted a young patient who recently discovered she had thyroid cancer. She was an international patient, and I was shocked to hear how she was managing navigating healthcare with a cancer diagnosis alone. Yet, the physician addressed all the patient’s concerns, spoke to her father on the phone, and instilled a sense of confidence in her.

What have you learned the most about surgery/medicine so far in your research internship?

Medicine is not a field where one solution works for every patient. It is important to understand your patient’s background and create a care plan.

What have you learned the most about yourself in your research internship?

I have learned that I enjoy working in groups and collaborating with peers over working individually.

Why would you recommend this research internship to others who follow your footsteps?

I believe this experience introduces pre-medical students to a wide variety of clinical aspects such as clinical practice flow and collaborating with medical staff. As well, it enhances your ability to answer hypothetical questions through detailed analysis.

What are your long term career goals?

I hope to become a physician who continues to contribute to academic medicine.

What is the most recent TV show or series you have watched?

Curb Your Enthusiasm

If you could have any meal in the world delivered to you right now, what would it be?

A sandwich from All’Antico Vinaio, a restaurant based in Florence, Italy.
